Practitioner Training

Tuition & Requirements

What the training costs, what it asks of you, and what certification requires. If you have not yet read the overview, start with the training page.

The Investment

Stated in Full

Two figures matter: tuition, and the total investment including your own personal sessions. Both are set out below so that nothing arrives as a surprise after enrollment.

ComponentAmount
Prerequisite: The Self-Guided Journey
Course Two, completed before the training begins. Nothing further is required if you have already taken it, and that includes anyone who bought The Soul Journeys Intensive, which carries Courses One and Two inside it.
$497
Tuition
Twelve months of cohort training, the complete thirteen-module manual, portal access, the teaching case library, advanced material, and case supervision.
$10,000
One personal session with Dr. Richards
Held at a reduced trainee rate.
$600
Nine personal sessions with certified practitioners
$300 each at the trainee rate, booked directly with the practitioner.
$2,700
Total investment $13,797
If the prerequisite is already behind you $13,300

Personal sessions are booked and paid separately from tuition, directly with the practitioner who delivers them. They are listed here because they are a requirement of the program, not an optional extra, and you should know the full figure before you apply rather than afterward.

Your own sessions are part of the training

Applicants come having had two to three sessions as a client. During the program you complete a minimum of ten, approximately twenty hours, beginning with a session with Dr. Richards, the remainder with certified CT practitioners at a reduced trainee rate. These are booked separately from tuition. Most trainees find they want more than the minimum. This is not an add-on: your own sessions are what make it possible to guide someone else through the same material.

Two ways to pay tuition

In full at the start: $10,000. Due on acceptance of your place.

Twelve monthly payments of $875: $10,500. The first payment is due on acceptance and secures your place; the remaining eleven run alongside the training. The $500 difference covers the administration of a plan that runs for a year.

Personal sessions are paid as they are booked either way, which spreads them naturally across the twelve months.

If you need to withdraw

Before the cohort begins: tuition is refunded in full, less the first payment, up to thirty days before the start date.

After the cohort begins: a place cannot be refilled once a cohort is under way, so tuition already paid is not refunded and any remaining instalments are cancelled. In place of a refund, the unused portion is deferred to the next cohort, so that a genuine change in circumstances postpones the training rather than ending it.

Personal sessions already booked are between you and the practitioner who delivered them.

What tuition covers

  • Twenty-six live cohort sessions with Dr. Richards
  • All thirteen training modules in the portal, with progress tracking
  • The teaching case library, drawn from Dr. Richards' own practice
  • Advanced material compiled from the training calls
  • Recordings of every cohort session, available for the duration of your cohort and twelve months after
  • Case supervision on your own client work
  • Certification on completion of all requirements

What it does not cover

  • The Self-Guided Journey prerequisite — it is listed in the table above because it is part of what the training costs you, but it is bought separately and is not part of tuition
  • Your ten personal sessions, listed above
  • Sessions beyond the required minimum, which most trainees choose to book

The Shape of It

Twelve Months, One Cohort at a Time

The program is deliberately small. Cohort size is limited by the attention each trainee needs, not by the size of the room.

12
Months

One cohort, start to certification review.

78
Contact hours

Twenty-six live sessions of three hours, every second week.

120+
Total program hours

Contact hours plus personal sessions and supervised practice.

10
Places

The maximum. Applications beyond that go to the next cohort.

Schedule

  • Live sessions every second week, on a fixed weekday announced with each cohort
  • 9:00 AM Pacific, three hours, held constant year-round
  • Delivered by Zoom. Every session is recorded and available in the portal
  • Two scheduled breaks across the twelve months
  • Between sessions: module reading, self-work exercises, and practice with your assigned partner

A note on time zones

9:00 AM Pacific is 12:00 PM in New York, 1:00 PM in São Paulo, 5:00 PM in London, and 6:00 PM across Western Europe and in Johannesburg. It was chosen to include as much of the Americas, Europe and Africa as a single fixed hour allows.

It does not work for Australia, New Zealand or East Asia, and we would rather say so plainly than have you discover it later. If you are in one of those regions and drawn to this work, please write to us so we know the demand is there.

Requirements

What Certification Asks of You

Certification is not conferred for attendance. It is conferred when you have received the work, conducted it competently, and had that competence reviewed.

Before you begin

  1. Two to three Causation Therapy sessions as a client. Sessions you have already had count toward this. It is a qualification rather than a purchase, and it exists because you should know from the inside what you are asking of others.
  2. Completion of The Self-Guided Journey, Course Two. Anyone who has taken The Soul Journeys Intensive has already met this, since that course contains it. It establishes the conceptual foundation and the working vocabulary, so that cohort time goes to clinical practice rather than to first principles. It also means you arrive holding a worked map of one of your own karmic relationships.
  3. An application, followed by a personal conversation with Dr. Richards.
  4. The confidentiality and recording agreement, signed before the first session.

During the program

  1. Attendance at the live cohort sessions.
  2. Ten personal Causation Therapy sessions, approximately twenty hours. Most trainees find they want more than the minimum, and book them at their own discretion.
  3. Practice sessions with your assigned cohort partner between meetings.
  4. Module reading and the self-work exercises, tracked in the portal.

Supervised practice

  1. A minimum of ten supervised sessions with real clients. Dr. Richards may require more where a trainee needs it.
  2. Practice clients are arranged through the Institute, at a reduced supervised-practice rate, so that you are never working on family or close friends. Causation Therapy with people close to you is contraindicated, and the reason is covered in Module 12.
  3. Recording a client session requires that client's written consent, obtained in advance on the form provided.

Certification review

  1. Five recorded sessions submitted for evaluation: two prenatal and three past-life. Prenatal work can be demonstrated with almost any client, which is why it is a fair test of competence rather than a matter of case availability.
  2. Review by Dr. Richards, with written feedback.
  3. On completion, certification as a Causation Therapy practitioner — the clinical method within Realization Psychology — and listing in the practitioner network.

Direct review of recorded work is a higher standard than most practitioner trainings apply. It is also the only way to know whether someone can actually do this.

Questions

Before You Apply

Do I need to be a licensed therapist?

No. The training is open to licensed clinicians and to serious practitioners without clinical licensure. Everyone trains together and everyone is certified the same way. What differs is the scope you practice within afterward, which is set out on the training page.

Why is The Self-Guided Journey required first?

Because cohort time is the scarcest thing in the program, and spending it on first principles wastes it. Trainees who arrive already holding the framework, the vocabulary and a worked map of one of their own relationships can begin on clinical practice in the first session rather than the fifth. If you have already completed it, you have met the requirement — and that includes anyone who bought The Soul Journeys Intensive, which contains Courses One and Two.

Why are the personal sessions not included in tuition?

Because they are clinical sessions with a practitioner, not classroom hours. Bundling them would conceal their cost inside tuition and would place the whole load on Dr. Richards. Booking them separately means you choose your practitioner, you can exceed the minimum without renegotiating anything, and you see the true figure before you commit.

Who delivers the personal sessions?

Your first is with Dr. Richards. The remaining nine are with certified Causation Therapy practitioners, at the reduced trainee rate. Sessions with a practitioner who is not your supervisor also mean you can work on your own material without it bearing on your certification.

What if I miss a session?

Every cohort session is recorded and available in the portal within a day. Sessions are dense and three hours long, and most trainees use the recordings whether they attended or not.

How soon can I see clients?

You begin supervised practice during the program, not after it. Independent practice follows certification.

How many cohorts run each year, and will the price change?

Cohort size is capped at ten. Sessions run on a fixed weekday, Wednesday or Thursday, confirmed when each cohort is announced. Tuition rises as the program matures and as the practitioner network establishes itself. The figure on this page is current for the cohort now enrolling.

I practice outside the regions you list. Can I apply?

Please write to us. The current cohort is enrolling practitioners in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Western Europe and Australia, but this work is intended to reach practitioners everywhere, and through them their clients. We would rather have the conversation than have you rule yourself out.

The Next Cohort

Apply

Applications are reviewed personally by Dr. Richards, and every applicant has a conversation with him before a place is offered. There is no purchase button, and there is no obligation on either side until that conversation has happened.
