Terms of Service — Causation Therapy®

Effective: upon publication of this website, and as amended from time to time.

These Terms govern your use of this website and any services you purchase through it, including private sessions, online courses, and practitioner training. By using the site or purchasing a service, you agree to them.

1. Who we are

This site is operated by Charles L. Richards, Ph.D., LMFT #23150, a licensed psychotherapist practicing in California ("we," "us"). Causation Therapy® is a registered service mark. Soul Journeys™ and Realization Psychology™ are claimed marks.

2. What we provide

We offer three distinct things, and the terms differ for each:

Private sessions. One-to-one work with Dr. Richards, delivered in person or by video.
Online courses. Self-paced digital programmes delivered through this site.
Practitioner training. A selective, cohort-based certification programme entered by application.

3. What we do not provide

These services are psychotherapy. They are not emergency or crisis care, and they are not a substitute for medical care, psychiatric care, or prescribed medication. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 to purchase any service. Services for anyone under 18 require the consent of a parent or legal guardian and are arranged directly rather than through this site.

5. Payment

Prices are in US dollars and are shown before purchase.
Card payments are processed by third-party providers. We do not receive or store your full card details.
Session fees are due as arranged at booking. Course fees are due at purchase. Training tuition follows the schedule set out on the tuition page.
Cancellation and refund terms are set out in the Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

6. Course and training content

Purchasing a course or a training place grants you a personal, non-transferable license to access the material for your own use. You may not copy, share, resell, republish, or use it to teach others.

All course materials, the training manual, the case library, recordings, and the written content of this site remain our property. Certification as a Causation Therapy practitioner permits you to practice the method within the scope set out in your training. It does not permit you to teach it, train others in it, or reproduce the curriculum.

7. Your conduct

Training and cohort settings require confidentiality. Trainees sign a separate confidentiality agreement, and breaching it is grounds for removal from the programme without refund.

8. No guaranteed outcome

Results vary between individuals, and we make no promise about what any particular person will experience. Descriptions of past client outcomes on this site are records of what has happened, not predictions of what will happen for you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any service is limited to the amount you paid for that service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability arising from our own professional negligence as a licensed clinician.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts of the State of California.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
